Lynmar Estate - Laguna de Santa Rosa Lagunda de Santa Rosa
Jewel of the Russian River

Lynmar Estate borders the Laguna de Santa Rosa. This 22-mile sanctuary of creeks, marshes, wetlands and oak woodlands extending from Cotati to Forestville which drain into a 254-mile watershed beginning high in the mountains. The Laguna is the largest tributary of the Russian River and Sonoma County’s richest wildlife area. It is considered a wetlands complex of international significance.

More than 300,000 people depend on the Laguna for important “ecosystem services” such as slowing flood waters, filtering pollutants and capturing carbon from the atmosphere. The Laguna supports a breathtaking range of wildlife including river otters, Western pond turtles, mountain lion, coyote, Steelhead trout, Coho salmon and more than 200 varieties of birds. It is common to see bald eagles hunting over the Laguna in this area – there is a nest nearby.
