When Lynn Fritz first purchased this property in 1980, he was drawn to the maritime climate and the authenticity of the rolling Russian River vineyards. For him, Quail Hill Ranch was a retreat from his busy life as the CEO of Fritz Companies, a global logistics organization with a presence in 120 countries. With over half of his time traveling to remote corners of the globe, his vineyard home was an oasis to spend time with his family and get grounded again. Each time he returned to the property he planted new trees and shrubs, slowly transforming the site, from a pasture to a vineyard with lush gardens, native flowers and trees.
The original vines on the property, now over 40 years old, were obtained from Joe Swan. The grapes from these early vines were bought by Tony Soter and Merry Edwards to make wines considered to be some of the best in the Russian River Valley. Lynmar began a small winemaking activity in the early 1990’s and produced small amounts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, that were extremely well received. more » |
