Lynmar Estate is home to a collection of 14 different Pinot Noir selections and four different selections of Chardonnay, grafted onto five different types of rootstock. The depth of this arrangement provides our winemaking team with a hugely diverse set of complexities from which to draft our final blends. This great diversity also presents a complex system to manage in the field. By matching rootstock to soil type, clone to rootstock, and then separate irrigation blocks to best serve the diversity in slope and aspect and create consistency in harvest lots, the 19 different selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at Lynmar are farmed in 53 individual blocks. Plus one block of Syrah. more »
